Hair Growth

All the years of my life I have always wanted long hair. For years I purchased product after product that promised results of long hair and growth retention. I took supplements in addition to the products and for years I could not attain the length I wished for. I have a 5 year old daughter whose hair I might wash once every three weeks, her hair stays in ponytails, and I hardly put products in her hair. When I do wash her hair I never blow dry and since she's five there is no heat applied to her hair at all. Over the weekend, I wanted to give myself a break from combing her hair in the morning so I took her to get it braided. I washed it before we left the house and I was amazed at the length, it is literally to the middle of her back. I think to myself our hair will grow if you just leave it in its natural state and don't fuss with it all the time. All the products on the shelf's can't help you all they do is harm you. Her hair makes its own natural oils that moisturize her hair and since I don't comb it daily she is able to retain all her length. Take a look...needless to say I'm jealous, but doesn't it look GREAT!!

She is absolutely beautiful. If we can only keep them loving their natural hair instead of embracing what "other standards" magazines and such say what beauty is. She is truly beautiful!!!

Queen Nat and Cshan - thank you and she is full of energy and way talkative!!!! Anonymous - you're absolutely right. I am trying to teach her that she is beautiful inside and out with what she has, but even the Barbie princess movies has her wanting hair streaming down her back. So right now she likes to take scarfs, wrap them around her head so that its flowing!!! Its cute now, but could turn into a deeper issues!

I know it's already been said - but your daughter is gorgeous! And the hairstyle is fantastic (hope it wasn't too tight around the hairline though)

All the best!

Bajan Lily/Kumina - thanks. She has a matching beautiful personality too :-) Not too tight around the hairline the girl I take her too is pretty good about that.

Your daughter's hair is long and healthy. I high five you for keeping her hair natural. Hopefully she will want to keep it natural even when she gets to high school.

Wittychiq - yes I hope that outside influences don't affect what I'm trying to teach her. However, it seems that most woman are going natural so maybe the "cool" thing by that time is to be natural
