My Kitchen
Lately I like wearing corn rows if I'm just running errands or working out. This morning I took a good look at my kitchen area and to say the least it looks a mess. My hair grows down into peaks but right now they are still to short to get locked and even just Sat my consultant pulled some of it in the closest lock but it came back out. I'm seriously contemplating cutting that area off just to keep a neat appearance. Have you ever done it or thought about it? Because it looks awful to me.

I always keep my nape cleaned up & shave that area. I guess it's just a personal choice.
I'm going to cut the area later today. Now that I have noticed it, it looks terrible. Plus by the time it does grow enough for its own lock it would look even worse. I will let it grow back when my locks have double in length. Thanks new2locs!
interesting! i've surfed many a blog and have never seen a post regarding this annoying (at least for me anyway) part of the hair. yes, i like new2locs, keep mine clean too. it grows like yours, down into peaks. it just looks neater to me to round it out. though i will offer caution. if you're going to maintain it yourself, be careful not to cut into it as i did a while ago and lost a loc as a result. it's back (reattached after enough growth) and fine, but be careful. :-)
Knotsnlocks ..thanks for the tip!! I took my clippers out and snipped away that same day. I did feel that I got a little too close to my lock but I didn't its still in tact. I will be more cautious next time. I think the clean nape area looks so much neater even though the hair will continue to grow.
i've had my locks for 6 months and the kitchen area took about the first 3 months to be long enough to lock...it is completely locked now. you just have to have patience with it. i love that i now don't have to "keep it clean or worry about it and it can grow as long as the rest of my hair. it's a personal preference, but if you're like me and get embarrassed by the "kitchen", for it to grow and never have to worry about it again is completely liberating.
@Anonymous -- I should've just left it alone and you're right by now I would've had enough to lock it!!! I'm stubborn I shaved it off clean, and it doesn't help that my boyfriend cuts his own hair so his clippers are always handy!
