Caruso Steam Rollers

I saw these on You Tube and also on Blaqkofi's blog and I'm seriously thinking about purchasing them.  Do any of you have this and can provide your reviews/opinions on it before I purchase?

  1. I don't have the rollers, but I did watch the video on youtube. You can get the same results from using setting/wrap lotion and rollers. You can rub a section of your locs with the setting lotion. I use Motions. Roll your hair up. Wait about 15 or 20 minutes, or more. Take the rollers out, and your hair will be curled. Easier, cheaper, and safer.

  2. @Anonymous - does your hair dry in 15/20 minutes? Mine seems to take much longer, or maybe I'm putting too much setting lotion on. And why do you say its safer?

  3. I have the Caruso steam rollers. With my first set of locks I only used them majority of my 1st year. And I'm sure I can count on one hand how many times I used them. Once I passed one year I attempted to use them again and my curls had already dropped before leaving the house. However they created nice body. For me the Caruso curls lasted longer on new/shorter locks. I think BlaqKofi has some sort of routine that helps her curls last longer. I need to find out her secret. I have yet to use them on my new set I'm sure the curls will last much longer, but I'm too lazy :)

  4. I don't have the steam rollers, but I do have the hot rollers. I've only used them once on my baby locks and I loved the result. I can't use setting lotion yet but I think the curls would last a long time!

  5. @V -- yes thats the problem I having that my curls don't last past like an hour no matter how long I wear the rollers or use a setting lotion. You're right BlaqKofi must use something that we don't know about.

    @BlackRose83 - whats hot rollers?

  6. I have them bug I only used it once when my hair was a lot shorter and let me tell u, it didnt look anything like Blaq's LOL. I honesly have not used them since but it set really quickly and at the length it gave my hair more of a bump than a curl. it did leave my hair feeling a little dry and brittle though I do remember that.

  7. Awh man Kay -- you know I lack patience and I went and bought it. You're absolutely right, it gave me a BUMP not a real curl. I twisted my hair first and then put it on the roller. I only did my bang so I didn't see any dryness. I do see myself using it for those last minute plans and just to get some body when I have no time. Pull yours back you never know what look you can create.

  8. When my locs were shorter I loved the caruso steam rollers for the conveniece of being able to get a curl at short notice, however as my locs have gotten longer they no longer hold a curl more like a shape that drops as soon as I remove the curlers. With longer locs the only curler that really curls and last are the loc loops with very small amounts of hair in each loc loop.
